Seasonal Decorating

My daughter and her friends made light of my seasonal decorating proclivity.
I guess they just didn't understand rotating the decor for the seasons and holidays but I've found like minded souls in the blog world.
The other bloggers out there totally "get" me.

I have some favorite spots around here that get a touch of each season.

The entryway dresser is the first thing that people see when they enter the front door.
It sets the tone for the rest of the house.
Last year my favorite scarecrow and fresh bittersweet decorated this spot.
He was still available on eBay a couple of weeks ago.
Search Primitive scarecrow under the antique tab.

We don't have a floral centerpiece on the dining room table.
Instead there is a permanent display that gets a touch or two of decor.
It was deep brown velvet pumpkins with a white one I made last fall.

The buffet usually gets something as well.
Last year it was baby boo pumpkins and dried hypericium berries.
The berries started out rust but dried black.
I love them.

I'll pick up some more boos in a few weeks.

The kitchen table usually has a Ball jar full of seasonal flowers.
The piece of wood came from the garage when we cleaned it out a few weeks ago.

Soon the apple and slate will be replaced with something else.

There are a few nooks in the kitchen that get a touch or two.

These shelves in the kitchen are always fun to decorate.

They are full of black transferware at the moment and will get some pumpkins or maybe a squirrel.
"Don't go crazy!"
The mantel display may not change from season to season.
It usually gets an overhaul about once every few years.
Small seasonal accents usually get tucked in around the permanent display.

The coffee table is a natural place to decorate but the display on it may not change if I've sprinkled decor to the rest of my "go to" decor spots.
Not every table and shelf needs something.
I'm not big into packing up all my decor and switching it out every season.

I just add a touch here and there to make it festive.

  1. I like the way you've tucked in little things here and there. That's how I like to do it too. Love that old piece of ceiling tin.
