Denim Bolster Pillow

Hi all!
The progress continues on the mancave spruce up.
It isn't really changing all that much but it is getting new paint and the decor is getting some tweaking.
I wanted to bring in some denim.
I showed you my denim and shabby classroom

I found a pair of the boys old jeans when I was cleaning out closets.

I thought it would make a good bolster pillow.
Bill loves one on his couch to set behind his back now and then.
I cut the pocket off to make it the focal point of the pillow.
I used the fabric from the legs to make it the correct width.

These were skinny jeans for a skinny guy so there isn't a lot of fabric to work with.

I was okay with the holey knees.

Two circles of fabric were needed for the ends.

Sewing around in a circle is a bit tricky.
There was more circle left at the end of the rectangle portion of the pillow but I took out a few stitches and decreased the diameter a little.

Once the circles were on, I closed I sewed from the circle to the center of the pillow to make a tube.
I left an opening in the middle to be able to stuff the pillow. Once stuffed, the opening then could be sewn closed.

When I found the jeans, I thought I'd be able to make a couple of pillows out of them.

No.
There isn't enough fabric with skinny boy jeans.
Have a great day.
I'm in the midst of teacher work week.
It's crazy busy but fun.

  6. Love it Katie. So cute and 'blokey' as we'd say here in Australia! Would you consider sharing this project at my Five Star Frugal linkup? I'd love to have you and I think recycled jeans to bolster cushion certainly qualifies! Love Mimi xxx
