Bovine Beauty

My sister in law and I went to First Monday Trade Days in Canton, Texas.

I know that I have gushed about Blue Bonnets in this post but First Monday or "Canton" is also a Texas treasure.

I've blogged about it before.  No one read that post except for the maybe the Canton Board of Tourism. I suspect that they did, because my lifted photo of the fairgrounds was removed. Wouldn't it be helpful to have photos that bloggers can use to promote a site?
You would think so.
I will tell you, again, you have to go to Canton.
It is held the Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday before the first Monday of the month. Confusing? Yes, it is.
It is a great mix of antiques, junk and new stuff.
It is one of the top flea markets in the U.S.
It is only about 58 minutes from Downtown Dallas.

We had a great time. The weather was perfect with a promise of rain that didn't transpire.
Which meant that the throngs of people didn't come!
I am secretly a hermit and don't like crowds.

Do you love cows?
I do.

On main drag leading into the trade grounds is a sweet shop called, LaurieAnna's Vintage Home.

I found this cow printed on canvas in black and white.
Actually, I saw it in the bathroom.
If you have traveled with me, you know that I use the restroom when they are available.
I'm just a scaredy cat like that.

Fortunately, they had one that hadn't been in the bathroom.

You may have noticed that I am in the midst of a love affair with monochromatic schemes.
It started with my black and white hand towels from Pottery Barn.

It has permeated much of our home except for the brief fling I am having with red.

I love her!
I don't think she realizes how much.
I look at her beauty and reminisce about the first time I saw one up close and personal at the Wisconsin State Fair.
They are huge in real life. Only a city slicker would be surprised at their size.

I want to be a country girl at heart.
Sadly, I'm all suburb not even all city.

I may sneak a country girl thing into this home, but it doesn't take the suburb out of me.

I've got some exciting country girl news coming.

You can read about the fireplace transformations in these two posts.

I hope y'all are having a great day!

  1. Good morning from your other suburb love, Laurie Anna's bathroom loving friend!! I cracked up that you found the cow in the bathroom. I'm always checking things out as I wait in that line or actually in the bathroom. They do that on purpose, don't you think? :)
