April Photo Diary

My friend Amy, from over at Ms. Toody Goo Shoes had a wonderful idea a few months back.
She created a monthly photo diary and this month she's hosting a link up. If you haven't seen her blog, check it out.
Amy is delightfully funny and creative. I hope to meet her next time I'm in New York.

I was horrible about keeping a diary as a kid.
"Dear Diary,"...
Nothing.
Every time I got a new diary it was the same thing.
I briefly kept a journal but that didn't go well either.
My husband and daughter on the other hand are avid journalers.

My blog is the closest thing I've ever had to a journal.
It works for me like nothing else. Apparently, I am a bit of an exhibitionist.
A diary is no good unless people are snooping in it.

Here is April in pictures.
It comes as no surprise that I started the month with a DIY.
I stripped the finish off of the old secretary on the first day of the month.

I primed it the next day.

I painted it and spent the next three days watching it dry.

It became an "If You Give a Mouse a Cookie" domino effect.
The dining room looked too crowded so I dragged the vintage trestle table into the kitchen.

The old kitchen table moved into the dining room.

I began deconstructing the table because I was convinced it would hold leaves.
It did even though I'm pretty sure Bill told me it didn't.
I gave myself a high five.

I played with stain to get it to match.
This was a five day time killer.
I did my first project on the table in the kitchen and made a bunny bum banner.

I also tweaked the Easter Decor.

At this point I will confess that I did my part to keep the Starburst company in business by eating more Starburst Jelly Beans that any one person should.
This girl likes them too.

She found a small package on the island a few years ago and ate them all while we were gone.
Now she comes running every time she hears the package.
She likes the green and purple ones (because those aren't my favorite.)
We both gained a few pounds this month.
A gift from one of my darlings brightened my day and also didn't help the waist line.

Week two commenced with another DIY.

I painted Bill's office white and completely lighten up the space.
I spent a few days tweaking knick knacks.
Bill said they were too girly but they had to coordinate with his bluebonnet paintings. I guess I'll still be tweaking things in there.

My class and I enjoyed a special event at school. The year will be over before I know it.

I gave myself another high five because I sold the van despite my efforts to the contrary.
For some reason we kept getting notes on it saying "I want to buy your van."
"Ummm, Not if you know what is good for you."
I tried to convince the poor woman that she did not want it by being very honest about its flaws.
She promised not to come back and "haunt" me.
This has been the rock band vehicle for the last 4 years.
Yikes.

$800 later...
I was sure that I deserved to keep the money for making the sale because it was so stressful. Bill didn't agree.

I got the flowers planted and of course two days later we had a freeze warning.
(Never fails.)

Sara and I had an egg hunt with our little class.

This old hunt theme frame got a makeover.
I was off on Good Friday so I continued to putter around the house.

On Saturday we worked on table leaves and cleaned.

We hosted an Easter lunch on our now ubber long leafed (leaved?) table.

My little grand niece had her first egg hunt.

The roses started blooming over the weekend.
I took a walk around the yard to appreciate the beauty.

I spent the morning of my anniversary fussing with my hair.
We ended the day with a nice dinner at our favorite restaurant.
(I also got some of that car money for my anniversary gift.)

We had escaped to the coast for a little weekend get-a-way.

I got to see the little couple.

April is gone and so are the blue bonnets.

What did you do in April?

  5. It looks like you had a nice April! I liked peeking into your journal. I used to keep a journal when I was in highschool. I wrote in it every day. I still have it too! It's fun to read it sometimes. I realize how different my life is now when I look back at it.
